About Us

Raquel Kolof, owner of Hough Heritage Farm, is passionate about raising happy, healthy animals in their family groups and in their natural environment. Raquel tiptoed into farming when she started raising 4 backyard hens in a micro orchard in East Vancouver. Quickly outgrowing her East Van pad, those 4 chickens, and all the other household pets came with Raquel over to the Sunshine Coast in 2014 in order to fulfill her lifelong dream of small-scale ethical farming.

Since starting Hough Heritage Farm on 10 acres subdivided from the old Hough Dairy farmland, Raquel has endeavoured to rewild and regenerate the landscape to be as vibrant, healthy and biodiverse as possible. In addition to the 80-year old Douglas Fir forest and heritage fruit orchards, she has created multiple pastures of diverse grasses and legumes that allow the livestock to graze naturally. Raquel practices Holistic Grazing and rotates her animals on pasture allowing for the perfect balance of optimal disturbance, rest and rejuvenation. Raquel believes that Regenerative Agriculture is the key to producing nutrient dense food while reversing climate change. Our land healing meat sequesters carbon, stewards the water cycle, and builds the soil microbiome, all while providing habitat for wildlife and pollinators.

Hough Heritage Farm sells limited quantities of grass-fed Lowline beef by the side.
